A union of 35 US state Attorneys General, Microsoft Corporation, and the Electronic Frontier Foundation are in support of Fortnite maker’s Epic Games, in the ongoing court battle with Apple Inc. Although Epic Games have largely lost its major lawsuit against Apple Icn, it is now gaining major support.

U.S federal judge, last year in November had given direction to Apple Inc. – to let or allow developers add links to external payment options on the App Store by 9th December 9, denying the tech giant’s motion for a stay.

The order came in the Epic Games vs Apple antitrust lawsuit in California, which was filed last year, 2021, by Epic’s Fortnite developer. The case went to trial this year as per sources.

Although Apple majorly won the lawsuit, the US District Judge ‘Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers’ supported the Fortnite publisher regarding restrictions on in-app purchases on Apple Inc. ‘App Store’.

In an opening appeal brief filed last week, Epic argued that letting the November ruling stand “would upend established principles of antitrust law and… undermine sound antitrust policy”.

“Apple’s policy is harming mobile application developers and many of citizens,” and  ” As Apple continues to monopolize app distribution and in-app payment solutions for iPhone within the industry, it must account for its conduct under a complete rule of reason analysis,” said by the 35 US states, as per source.
