Foxconn, Apple’s Biggest Suppliers to Increase Their Work Force: Here’s What We Know

Foxconn is going to quadruple its workforce in India. Why is Foxconn doing this?

The Pandemic in China

The Covid 19 pandemic in China has caused the government to take strict measures which have affected the Foxconn Plant in Zhengzhou severely.

The workers of the Foxconn Plant in Zhengzhou were asked to stay in the plant in a restricted area without any contact with the outer world. This created discomfort within the workforce and workers started leaving the plant.

According to the article published in Reuters, the company was even ready to pay a bonus of 500 Yuan to the workers who were ready to return back to the plant.

Now according to news reports Foxconn plans to increase its workforce in the iPhone plant in India.

Reports published in Reuters state that the company plans to make the workforce 70,000 in India by adding 53,000 more employees. This however is not going to match the workforce of about 2,00,000 workers in the Zhengzhou plant.

The Foxconn company with this step is planning to take its production outside China to cope with the production loss which has been caused.

How has it affected Apple?

The issue in the Foxconn Plant in Zhengzhou has significantly affected Apple.

The Apple iPhone 14 and 14 Pro were the phones which were significantly affected by the issue in the Zhengzhou plant. The production of the product wasn’t able to meet the demands of the market.

The company had also lost a lot of sales in the previous holiday sales.

By increasing the workforce in India, the company plans to overcome its loss and get back to selling more of its products.
