Huawei releases reply statements to comments by European Commission representatives
The European Commission on Thursday announced a block on the Chinese technology company, Huawei. On Thursday, executive and member countries of the EU urged national governments to completely block Huawei along with ZTE.
According to the EU, Huawei poses a security risk in its 5G networks. Brussels set out recommendations that high-risk vendors should be excluded from technology investments. The EU member states agreed to these recommendations (5G Security Toolbox) in the year 2020. As of now, only one-third of EU countries have banned Huawei.
Earlier, Washington accused Huawei of being a criminal enterprise which has stolen from US companies, violated sanctions against North Korea and stated false statements to the FBI. US allies were then asked to ban Huawei from communications infrastructure by Washington.
In recent developments, Huawei presented its statements against the comments made by European Commission representatives.
Huawei expressed strong opposition to the comments of the EU. Huawei said that those comments are “…clearly not based on a verified, transparent, objective and technical assessment of 5G networks”.
Huawei expressed that restrictions based on the discriminatory judgement will just pose economic and social risks.
According to Huawei, “Publicly singling out an individual entity as ‘HRV’ without a legal basis is against principles of free trade”. It further emphasized that discriminatory ‘HRV’ assessments shouldn’t be applied to any vendor without authentic procedures and hearings.
Huawei stated that as an economic operator in the EU, it holds procedural and substantial rights and should be protected under the EU and Member States’ Laws as well as their international communities.
Huawei further expressed that they prioritise Cyber Security and have a Cyber Security Transparency Centre in Brussels. This centre is even open to independent third-party testing organisations. Huawei welcomes them to perform independent security tests in their centre.
Lastly, they said that they are committed to delivering globally certified and trusted products and services.
