Jio and Airtel gained about 35 lakh subscribers in April 2023, Vodafone Idea lost 29.9 lakh : reports by TRAI
In recent data released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), subscriber counts of various telecom services for the month of April 2023 were shown. According to the data, Jio gained a good amount of subscribers, while Airtel bagged a considerable amount and Vodafone lost a lot.
Jio gained about 33 lakh new subscribers during the period, and Airtel gained about 1.8 lakh new subscribers. Vodafone Idea on the other hand lost about 29.9 lakh subscribers.
According to reports, by April end of this year, Jio’s subscriber tally marked about 44 crores. On the other hand, Airtel saw a total of about 37 crores after the new 1.8 lakh subscribers addition.
Jio, the largest telecom service in the nation is thus still maintaining its dominance.
Vodafone Idea stood at 23.44 crore subscribers upon being hit by a heavy decline of 29.9 lakh subscribers.
Reports by TRAI also stated that the total broadband subscribers saw a gain of 0.52% during the month of April. The total number of broadband subscribers stood at 850.94 million.
98.39% of the market share comprises the top five service providers. This includes Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd with 441.92 million, Bharti Airtel with 244.37 million, Vodafone Idea with 123.58 million, BSNL at 25.26 million, and Atria Convergence at 2.14 million.
