Massive weekend rush in IKEA Bengaluru: People Get To Wait For 3 Long Hours
On June 25, Saturday, a massive crowd gathered at the Nagasandra Metro Station on the Green Line to visit IKEA, a Swedish retailer of home furnishings that opened an outlet here on June 22.
The largest IKEA outlet in India was opened on June 22 by Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, who also announced the company’s decision to invest nearly Rs 3,000 crore in the state.
Over 65 exquisitely developed room sets, as well as more than 7,000 well-designed home furnishings, are available at the IKEA store in Nagasandra, which is spread out over 12.2 acres and 4,60,000 square feet.
Following a big turnout for the first weekend since the Ikea outlet launch, Tumakuru Road traffic was also impacted. In fact, Ikea had to temporarily lock the gate because the security personnel were unable to control the mob. A similar scene is to be expected for today as well.
IKEA tweeted on Saturday, “Bengaluru, we are overwhelmed by your response. The current wait time at the Nagasandra store is 3 hours. Please plan accordingly or shop online. For latest wait time updates.”
Large crowds also flocked to Bengaluru when IKEA launched its third outlet in India so they could get the first glimpse within.
