OnePlus and Realme reported to stop sales and production of TVs in India

Diwali season has begun and brands have begun rolling up their sleeves for the sales that go record high during this period. Similar to other brands when Realme and OnePlus should be preparing for sales they are preparing to wrap up the sales and production of television in India. This has been reported by the Times of India in a report on the basis of a source. The report does not mention the reason behind this step and neither company made any remark on it.

Though Realme could not make it to the top 5 brands for television in India OnePlus was performing well which made it hard to believe in its decision to leave the Indian market. As per the report, OnePlus was one of the fastest-growing brands in 2022 in the television segment.

When OTT platforms and low-cost internet have fuelled the sales of Smart TVs in India, the withdrawal of these companies has raised the concern. As per the International Data Corporation Quarterly Smart Home Devices Tracker 4.5 million TVs were shipped in India in the first half of 2023 which is no less than a testimony to the growing market.
