OpenAI former CEO Sam Altman and co-founder Greg Brockman hired by Microsoft to lead a new advanced AI research team

On Friday, many people were shocked when OpenAI’s board announced the removal of its CEO Sam Altman from OpenAI. As per the board, the reason behind this removal was that it “no longer had confidence in his ability to continue leading OpenAI.” This came as a shock not only for the tech community but also for the employees of OpenAI. Even some of the employees including OpenAI co-founder Greg Brockman decided to leave OpenAI showing their displeasure towards the decision.

Reports were claiming that the board might negotiate with Altman and bring him back as the CEO but nothing as such happened. Microsoft which acquired almost 50% ownership of OpenAI didn’t look pleased with the decision and today Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella officially announced that they are hiring Sam Altman, and Greg Brockman along with their colleagues to join Microsoft’s new advanced AI research team.

The CEO also mentioned that it is still committed to its partnership with OpenAI and is looking forward to getting to know Emmet Shear who as per reports is named as interim CEO. Although OpenAI has not officially announced the appointment of a new CEO it is expected that in the coming days, the company might make the announcement.
