Perplexity CEO denies having financial issues and clarifies on the use of Auto mode

Recently, there were concerns raised about the financial situation of Perplexity, while a few users also complained about their frustrating experiences with their product. Also, a user on Reddit presented a theory that mentions how Perplexity is making lots of changes to cut costs and is doing horribly financially.
It was also mentioned that Perplexity has switched to Auto mode to save costs. Well, Perplexity CEO, Aravind Srinivas, seems to have responded to this user’s theory and has addressed users’ complaints about the product on Reddit, and has also assured users that the company is not facing any financial issues.
For the Auto mode, the CEO has mentioned that all AI products right now are shipping non-stop and adding a ton of buttons and dropdown menus, and clutter, which is not sustainable. The user shouldn’t have to learn so much to use a product, and that’s the motivation for Auto mode. It is clarified that Auto mode isn’t used to scam users and save money.
Now coming to the financial situation, the CEO said, “No. We have all the funding we’ve raised, and our revenue is only growing.” Further, he stated, “We have no plans for IPOing before 2028.”
The Reddit post also mentions that the company is working on a new, more powerful deep research agent that thinks for 30 mins or more, and will be the best research agent out there. GPT 4.5 model access is not yet provided as the company wants to achieve speeds similar to what users expect, currently, the decoding speed is only 11 tokens/sec. It is also revealed that in the spirit of shipping so much code and launching quickly, the quality mark is missed, leading to various bugs and confusion for users, for which the CEO has apologized.
