Royal Caribbean Group to implement Starlink’s Internet connectivity in their ships for a more luxurious guest experience

Royal Caribbean Group has planned to implement SpaceX’s Starlink, the innovative broadband internet service on all its Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises and Silversea Cruises ships. They will be the first group in the cruise industry to adopt SpaceX’s high-speed, low-latency internet connectivity medium. This step will provide the guests and crews a better onboard experience. 

The group will implement the technology immediately and complete by the end of the first quarter of 2023. They received insights from the Freedom of the Seas that was inclusive of a huge amount of positive feedbacks. 

Jason Liberty, president and chief executive officer of the Royal Caribbean Group expressed that their purpose is to deliver the best vacation experiences to their guests. He also mentioned that this will be the biggest public deployment of Starlink’s high connectivity internet in the travel industry. He added that this new initiative will facilitate many high-bandwith activities onboard like video streaming and video calls. He emphasized that using Starlink is an example of their continuous focus on innovation and excellence for their guests, the crew, the communities they visit and their shareholders. It demonstrates their commitment to their purpose of providing their guests the best experience. 

On the other hand the Vice President of SpaceX’s Starlink Sales Jonathan Hofeller mentioned that Royal Caribbean Group’s decision to implement Starlink will make their passenger’s getaways even more luxurious.
