In the roughly two months that make up India’s most significant shopping season, Samsung sold cellphones worth 144 billion rupees ($1.7 billion), which is frequently a sign of higher levels of domestic expenditure. According to Aditya Babbar, head of product marketing at Samsung’s India mobile division, sales increased across all models, from the Flip and Fold to the flagship S22.

According to Navkendar Singh of IDC India, Apple’s value sales over the same time period were probably comparable to Samsung’s, while Xiaomi Corp. and Vivo shouldn’t have lagged too far behind.

Samsung, previously the undisputed market leader in India’s developing smartphone industry, has struggled with growing competition from Chinese companies like Xiaomi, Oppo, and Vivo, which account for seven out of ten of the country’s smartphone sales.

According to industry analyst Counterpoint, the shipping of smartphones into India fell by 11% in the third quarter. But according to the research company, Samsung was the only top-five brand to record a yearly increase.
