Sterlite Technologies wins ₹2,600 crore BharatNet project in J&K
Sterlite Technologies Ltd (STL) (NSE: STLTECH) has won the Jammu & Kashmir phase of BharatNet III project in consortium with Dilip Buildcon Limited. The project, valued at ₹2,600 crore, comprises ₹1,625 crore in capital expenditure and ₹975 crore for operations and maintenance.
The optical solutions company will deploy its automation-led fiber technology in one of India’s most challenging terrains. STL’s approach, which incorporates drone surveys, GIS mapping, and AI-led network design, has shown 26% faster fiber deployment compared to traditional methods, while reducing fiber cuts by nearly four times.
This isn’t STL’s first venture in the region. The company previously executed the Network for Spectrum (NFS) project, creating a 10,000-kilometer intrusion-proof network for the Indian Armed Forces. STL has also implemented BharatNet projects in Maharashtra (Mahanet) and Telangana (T-Fibre), having laid over 1,50,000 kilometers of fiber across India.
“We’re truly proud to be part of a project that’s not just about laying fibre but about transforming lives. It’s in our DNA to support nation-building initiatives that accelerate the country’s progress. We are bringing technology-driven solutions to fibre deployment, and that’s what sets us apart. Our Fibre Automation Solution enables a 3X faster deployment by infusing automation in the deployment process. Faster deployment, and higher-quality networks—that’s the STL edge. That’s what we’re bringing to BharatNet in Jammu & Kashmir,” said Praveen Cherian, CEO of STL’s Global Services Business.
