Supertech twin towers demolition by 22 May: NOIDA informs Supreme Court
NOIDA informs SC that it will demolish the twin towers by 22 May
A 40-storey twin pair of buildings by real estate developer Supertech Ltd., Supertech twin towers demolition is slated to complete demolition by 22nd May 2022. NOIDA, an urban planned city, New Okhla Industrial Development Authority informs the SC about it.
An Allahabad high court orders demolition of the Supertech twin towers. Further on 31st August 2021, the Supreme court upholds the Allahabad high court’s verdict. It orders demolition of the tower and prosecution of the officials of Noida and Supertech Ltd.
Moreover, on 12th January, the top court admonishes Supertech’s directors for not complying with the demolition orders and forewarns them against consequent imprisonment due to non-compliance. Further, on 17th January, the apex court approves Noida’s proposal of demolition agency as Edifice.
On 4th February, it orders to complete the refund to buyers by 28th February. At the same time, the SC also warns the group to begin demolition within 2 weeks.

The twin towers violate Uttar Pradesh Apartments Act, 2010 and Uttar Pradesh Industrial Area Development Act, 1976.
The SC holds that such infrastructure are against urban planning itself. These compromise the safety and well-being of the occupants of these apartments. Moreover, these do not comply with environment standards. Thus, these land in group of illegal construction.
Further, SC sanctions to run trials on the officials of Noida authority and Supertech Ltd., on whose connivance the infrastructure stands erect.
