Tata Motors to launch ten electric vehicles by March 2026

Tata announced last year that it intends to launch ten electric vehicle models by March 2026, investing approximately $2 billion in new vehicle architecture, related technology, and infrastructure.

Cars based on this platform, known as the Pure EV architecture, will also be released in global markets, according to the company’s invitations to the unveiling.

Tata Motors is attempting to position itself alongside global automakers that are investing billions of dollars in the development of electric vehicles (EVs) that meet stringent climate change and carbon reduction targets.

Tata Motors expects to ramp up annual production of electric vehicles (EVs) to more than 80,000 units this financial year, according to Reuters.

India wants electric models to sell about 30 percent of private cars and 40 percent of buses by the end of this decade. Modi administration is offering companies billions of dollars as incentives to roll out more electric vehicle models.

The vehicles built on the new platform will be agnostic to battery chemistries and battery cell formats, according to Shailesh Chandra, managing director of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility, at Friday’s (April 29) event.

Chandra also stated that the batteries will have a higher density and be more durable than those used in the company’s previous generation of vehicles.
