Tata Motors’ two-wheeler sales fell by 17%

Tata Motors had a 26% drop in two-wheeler sales in October, bringing total domestic sales to 198,738 units, compared to 268,631 cars sold in the same period the previous year. Exports fell 5% to 192,565 two-wheelers, down from 201,659 the previous years. The overall number of two-wheelers sold in October fell to 391,303 units, down from 470,290 units in the same period the previous year, a 17 percent drop. Tata Motors released its second-quarter results today.

Tata Motors, on the other hand, had a 58 percent increase in sales of commercial vehicles. On October 21, the company sold 19,827 commercial automobiles, up from 12,529 the previous year. The number of commercial cars exported fell by 3%, reaching 28,485 units. Last October, it was 29,219 units. Overall, the commercial vehicle category increased by 16 percent, with 48,312 units sold compared to 41,748 previously.

The aggregate sales number for two-wheelers and commercial vehicles fell by 14% to 439,615 units, down from 512,038 units the previous year.

Tata Motors, like other automakers, is experiencing a semiconductor shortage, which has hampered the manufacturing and delivery of its Jaguar Land Rover vehicles.
