Vivo 27,000 smartphone units withheld at New Delhi Airport finally freed by Directorate of Revenue Intelligence
Recently Vivo found itself into a big problem in which its 27,000 Vivo mobile communication co-smartphones were withheld by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence or DRI. Later on Wednesday, the Finance Ministry’s revenue intelligence allowed the company to collect its units at the New Delhi Airport. This incident took place because of the alleged misdeclaration of phone models and their value.
This incident came to light when Bloomberg reported that the devices were being withheld for inspection and just after that phones were freed. Reporting by such a big news agency not only makes it a big issue but also somehow threatens India’s ambition of becoming a tech hub. Vivo and
China-based several tech companies are facing issues because of money laundering cases that can work as potential pressure on them.
Though India’s stance can also not be denied where such companies can cause a threat to Indian security. It would be interesting to see how different other companies respond to it and how India makes sure that India becomes a tech hub in the upcoming years.
