Vivo writes a letter to ICEA over its concerns about mobile phone consignment
Vivo is a Chinese multinational technology company that designs and develops smartphones, smartphone accessories, and software for its phones. It is a great competitor in the Indian smartphone market.
However, it has now been facing issues in exporting its phones outside India. As per the flagship, the Department of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has put on stiff restrictions on Delhi Airport the company due to which there is a decrease in its exports from India. According to the email sent by Vivo to Indian Cellular and Electronics Association (ICEA), DRI is opening the companies mobile phones boxes to cross check its IMEI number making it unfit to exports.
Till now it has detained around 26,840 smartphones. In the letter to ICEA Vivo stated “Its entire shipment is presently dispersed at the airport in Delhi and is not suitable for export until it has been once again brought to the plant, gone through a thorough examination, and been repackaged.”
It also added that it’s the time of the festive season and due to this issue its sales is been killing. Further, he said its manufacturing industry is been currently manufacturing around Rs. 2.75 lakh crore worth of handsets and exporting handset worth around Rs. 45,000 crores.
There hasn’t been any further reply from DRI to the Email sent by Vivo.
