Yandex CEO Elena Bunina steps down from position said it her personal decision

Elena Bunina, the CEO of Yandex LLC, Russia’s largest technology company, is stepping down two weeks before her term ends on April 15, the company announced on Saturday.

In an email, Yandex’s press department stated, “Elena Bunina is quitting her jobs as CEO and HR director at Yandex LLC, it was her personal decision.” Artem Savinovsky, a senior manager at the company, was named acting CEO, according to the report.

The decision, which is the second recent high-level departure from Yandex, which produces intelligent products and services powered by machine learning, was not explained further.

Tigran Khudaverdyan, the executive director and deputy CEO of Yandex NV (YNDX.O), Yandex LLC’s parent company based in the Netherlands, resigned last month after the European Union placed him and a group of Russian businessmen on a sanctions list over Moscow’s “special military operation” in Ukraine. Individually, Khudaverdyan was sanctioned by the EU.

The United States, the European Union, and the United Kingdom have not sanctioned Yandex NV or any of its subsidiaries. Bunina would continue as general director of Yandex LLC, the business’s principal operating subsidiary, until April 15, according to a statement released by the company on March 15.
