Indian Navy’s 1971 Indo-Pak war veteran Vice Admiral (Retd) S H Sarma passed away in Odisha’s Bhubaneswar on Monday.
Vice Admiral S H Sarma, a veteran of the 1971 Indo-Pak conflict in the Indian Navy, died on Monday in Bhubaneswar, according to officials.
They mentioned that Sarma, who turned 99 in December, was the Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Fleet during the 1971 war.
In the 1971 war, India conquered Pakistan, resulting in the formation of Bangladesh.
Sarma was also the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Eastern Naval Command, according to officials.
They reported that he died at 6.20 p.m. on Monday in Bhubaneswar.
