Philippines to become next purchase of Brahmos missile, deal on final phase
India is poised to receive an export order for BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles from the Philippines soon, in what might be a big win for the Narendra Modi government’s defence export campaign. “The sale of the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile between India and the Philippines is nearing completion. An export order is expected to be placed soon “ANI obtained information from official sources.
“For the last few months, DRDO and BrahMos Aerospace have been lobbying hard for exports of this missile to friendly foreign countries,” sources stated. The DRDO, which is part of the Indian government’s defence export push, recently received orders from the Armenian government for’made-in-India’ weapon finding radars.
India is likely to receive further orders for the missile system from friendly countries, since it is in advanced talks with a number of foreign countries. Due to increased range and the incorporation of other current technologies, the missile is becoming more capable.
Atul Dinkar Rane, a senior scientist who has been with BrahMos Aerospace Limited since its beginnings, has been named the company’s new CEO.
