Terminator Zero, the latest Japanese English-language science-fiction action anime series was released on Netflix on August 29, 2024. The series which is developed by Mattson Tomlin, is crafted with a fresh and daring approach. Set in the Terminator universe, Mattson has made efforts to expand the Terminator franchise with previously unexplored themes like family, artificial intelligence, and the franchise’s evolution.
Terminator Zero includes 8 episodes in the current release and the show is written by Mattson Tomlin. Masashi Kudō has directed the series.

Premise: Terminator Zero is set in 1990s Japan. The story follows Malcolm Lee, who is developing another AI system to compete against Skynet. However, on Judgement Day in 1997, Lee faces an unknown robot assassin along with his three children. The robot assassin is further accompanied by a mysterious soldier from the year 2022, who has been sent to protect him.
To dominate the future, the Terminator must obliterate the past – however, the mysterious soldier stands in the way. In 1997, humanity is the underdog.

- Eiko: Eiko is a resistance soldier who belongs to the year 2022. Eiko comes back in 1997 to protect Malcolm and his kids from the Terminator and to prevent Kokoro from being launched.
