Venom 3 pre-productions underway as Tom Hardy’s “final dance”

According to a recent update, production on the franchise’s first threequel might start later this year as the Sony Spider-Man Universe grows.

A possible Venom 3 seems inevitable after the success of Venom and Venom: Let There Be Carnage. Nothing could be more thrilling for Venom fans than this.

The movie, which has been hinted to as Tom Hardy’s “final dance,” was given the go-ahead back in April 2022. With the exception of the announcement that Kelly Marcel, who wrote and produced the previous two movies, would be taking over as director, the project has stayed pretty quiet since then.

Nonetheless, enthusiasts of Sony’s symbiote suddenly have something to get thrilled about after months of practically no radioactivity. Venom 3 will begin shooting in just a few months, according to industry insider Daniel Richtman. The Sony Pictures threequel is scheduled to shoot in England from June to September, according to Richtman’s most recent post on his Patreon page.

Thus far, with the other two Tom Hardy-led Venom films, production has usually officially kicked off around a year out from the film’s eventual (or planned) release.  It will once again star Tom Hardy and be produced by Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach, Amy Pascal, and Hutch Parker.

In fact, series actor Tom Hardy released a Venom first movie deleted clip as he worked on pre-production for Venom 3, heightening the anticipation for the imminent surprise.

The actor shared the scene, in which Hardy’s Eddie Brock struggles with Venom internally to enter a hospital, on Instagram. Hardy then confirmed that Venom 3‘s pre-production is underway, stating:

“Whilst working on V3 pre-prep @lelping @sonypictures @sony @venommovie this throwback came up #cuttingroomfloor #byetom #thankstom.”

Venom began production in late October 2017, with the movie’s theatrical debut on  October 5, 2018. In fact, following its theatrical release on October 1, Venom: Let There Be Carnage (Sequel 2) broke pandemic box office records by becoming 2021’s second highest-grossing film in the U.S. with a domestic gross of over $200 million and a worldwide gross of over $480 million.

So, when is the threequel set to release?

Right now, it is looking like Venom 3 will hit theatre screens in the second half of 2024.
