Tesla also makes a unique set of energy solutions that enable homeowners, businesses, and utilities to produce and manage renewable energy generation, storage, and consumption in order to establish an integrated sustainable energy ecosystem. Solar panels or a Solar Roof can be used to power homes with 100 percent renewable energy, which can then be stored in a Powerwall, which makes electricity available during peak energy demand periods and at night, as well as during grid disruptions.

Tesla said that solar power deployment in 2021 was 345 MW, increasing 68 percent year over year, in its Q4 and FY2021 report. During this time, the number of Solar Roof installations nearly increased year over year. According to the company, it is continuing to minimise costs, particularly for installation, which boosts the profitability of energy use.
“Solar installations totaled 345 MW in 2021, up 68 percent year over year, with cash/loan acquisitions accounting for nearly all solar installations. Solar Roof deployments nearly tripled year over year in 2021, and the trend continued in Q4. To maximise energy profitability, we are making more cost reductions, notably in installation.”
The installation period for Solar Roof is critical to the program’s growth. Tesla continues to hire hundreds of electricians and roofers in order to expand the company. As a result, installation teams are installing solar roofs at an ever-increasing rate.
