India has witnessed a two-place fall to 132 on the Ookla’s Speedtest Global Index for mobile broadband speeds in April. The normal mobile broadband download speed in the country was 9.81Mbps during the month whereas the normal upload speed was registered to be 3.98Mbps for the same duration.
The fall in the mobile Internet speeds could be assigned to the enormous surge in Internet consumption in the country because of the ongoing lockdown.
The newest ranking shared by the global Internet speed tracker company depicts India falling even below Bangladesh among the neighboring nations. India at the moment ranks below Pakistan and Nepal in terms of mobile broadband speeds.
As per the Speedtest Global Index, the global average mobile broadband download speeds in April registered at 30.89Mbps whereas the global average upload speed was at 10.50Mbps. The list was topped by South Korea with an average mobile broadband download speed of 88.01Mbps and the last – 139th – position was of Afghanistan (6.02Mbps).
In terms of fixed broadband performance, India’s position remained stagnant at the 71st position since March. India’s normal fixed broadband download speed was 35.84Mbps in April whereas the average upload speed is stated to be at 32.36Mbps for the same period.
