Is Facebook the cause of iOS Apps like TikTok, Spotify crash

Facebook revealed that the difficulty was caused by a change in its iOS SDK. the corporate has already fixed the difficulty.

Many iOS users on Wednesday reported facing issues with several applications including the likes of Spotify and TikTok. These apps were crashing on iOS thanks to a problem with Facebook’s SDK (software development kit). Facebook confirmed the difficulty and has already fixed it.

The Verge citing a source with knowledge about the difficulty reported that Facebook had disabled configuration update on the server-side which led to SDK causing crashes to those apps which also included Pinterest and GroupMe. The report further cited a Facebook engineer saying that the corporate had reverted the change to repair the difficultyconsistent with the web site, users didn’t get to be logged in via Facebook to possess impacted by the difficulty.

“Earlier today, a replacement release of Facebook included a change that triggered crashes for a few users in some apps using the Facebook iOS SDK,” a Facebook spokesperson told the publication. “We identified the difficulty quickly and resolved it. We apologize for any inconvenience.”

Earlier, several users took to Twitter and other forums to report facing issues with the apps. consistent with Downdetector, a crowd-sourced platform that tracks internet services, user crash reports spiked between 3:30 and 5:30PT (4 PM IST and 6 PM IST) on late Wednesday.

Spotify, one among the apps which faced the difficulty, was quick to acknowledge the difficulty. “We’re conscious of some issues immediately and are checking them out! We’ll keep you posted,” the corporate said during a tweet.
