Apple’s decision to shift its production from China not only keeps it in a safe position when things are not right in China but also helps it diversify its production. The Indian government is also continuously working to make India a favorable ground for manufacturers. The government earlier this year not only reduced the import duty on parts used for mobile manufacturing from 15% to 10% to boost phone manufacturing in India but also announced Rs 1 lakh crore corpus with a 50-year interest-free loan.
This comfortable ground benefits companies, the government as well as the citizens who get job opportunities. Tata Electronics, which runs two plants for Apple, is the biggest job creator in the Apple ecosystem, along with Foxconn and Pegatron. As per the reports Apple iPhone factories are set to hire more than 10,000 people directly during the peak festival period. And they aim to manufacture more than 50 million iPhones in India per year.
