ATAGS will give 21 gun salute to celebrate Independence Day, a great gift for India!
On the occasion of Independence Day on August 15, the DRDO-developed artillery gun ATAGS (Advanced Towed Artillery Gun System) under the government’s Make in India initiative will be fired from the Red Fort to celebrate the Independence day across the country.
For the first time in the Indian history, ATAGS will give it’s official 21 Gun Salute along with the ’25 Pounder British guns’ which are always fired till now for celebrating Independence day. For this, the team of DRDO’s Armament Research and Development Establishment (ARDE), Pune led by Scientists and Artillery Officers have made this dream possible. This salute would be marked as a great gift for India.

The ATAGS project began in the year 2013 by Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) to replace the older guns in the Indian Army with a modern 155mm artillery gun. ATAGS is the longest-range gun in the world and is capable of hitting targets from 45 to 48 km.
