Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin can now be used for Emergency use as WHO approves its usage
According to reports published on November 3, the World Health Organization (WHO) has authorised Covaxin, a COVID-19 vaccine created by Indian pharmaceutical firm Bharat Biotech Ltd, for emergency use.
The WHO’s Technical Advisory Group, which convened earlier today to decide on Covaxin, has recommended that the vaccine be given Emergency Use Listing (EUL) designation, according to news agency PTI, citing sources.
By the time first reports surfaced, the WHO and Bharat Biotech had yet to issue an official comment.
Apart from India, Covaxin has acquired regulatory approval in Iran, Mexico, Oman, Greece, Nepal, and Australia.
