Final Survivor of the CDS helicopter crash, Group Captain Varun Singh finally dies in the hospital, Check it Out!

The final survivor of the Indian Air Force Helicopter crash on December 8, Group Captain Varun Singh passed away at the IAF Command Hospital, Bengaluru today.

The Mi-17V5 chopper had 14 personnels on board and the crash took like of 13 including the first CDS of India General Bipin Rawat, his wife and others. Group Captain Varun Singh was admitted to Wellington’s Military Hospital in Coonoor for the treatment of his severe burns, but then later he was transferred to Command Hospital on December 9 for proper treatment. He had been on life support since the incident and today lost his life due to several injuries.

Until Tuesday, his condition was “critical but stable”, then on wednesday, IAF shared the heartbreaking news of his demise on Twitter, “IAF is deeply saddened to inform the passing away of braveheart Group Captain Varun Singh, who succumbed this morning to the injuries sustained in the helicopter accident on 08 Dec 21. IAF offers sincere condolences and stands firmly with the bereaved family.”

The Group Captain Varun Singh was a Shaurya Chakra winning officer, he received it for avoiding a possible mid-air accident by handling his Tejas light combat aircraft which faced a major technical snag last year.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also tweeted mourning his death. He tweeted, “Group Captain Varun Singh served the nation with pride, valour and utmost professionalism. I am extremely anguished by his passing away. His rich service to the nation will never be forgotten. Condolences to his family and friends. Om Shanti.”

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, home minister Amit Shah and several others expressed their sorrow of the death of the only survivor of the IAF Helicopter crash.

About a week ago, his father Colonel KP Singh talking about his son said that he is a fighter which he truly is. He was a courageous and strong officer. It is a disheartening day for the nation.
