Indian Medical Students along with other asked to leave Kyiv immediately

India’s citizens in Kyiv, Ukraine’s capital, were told to leave the city “immediately” on Tuesday.

“All Indian nationals, including students, are encouraged to leave Kyiv urgently today,” the Indian Embassy in Ukraine wrote on Twitter. Preferably, using available trains or any other available means.”

The current advisory’s abrupt shift in tone came amid allegations that a lengthy military convoy carrying Russian tanks and other equipment was on its way to Kyiv.

Arindam Bagchi, a spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs, told a press conference in New Delhi on Monday that about 2,000 Indian nationals, large students studying medicine, remain in Kyiv.

Bagchi further stated that many Indian nationals have begun to migrate from Kyiv to the western portion of the country. According to the embassy, 400 students on a train were among those who left, with their voyage planned through the Indian mission’s efforts.

The embassy said on Monday that Ukraine Railways is putting special trains in place for evacuations. On February 15, the administration issued its first advisory, asking Indian nationals to consider temporarily departing Ukraine.
