Is Russia waiting for the winter Olympics to end to attack Ukraine?
Tensions between Russia and Ukraine are at an all-time high. Where one is accusing others that they will attack soon. Nato which is backed by the USA is accusing Russia of militarizing the border between Ukraine.
Now let us explain the conflict between Russia and Ukraine
Russia has long opposed Ukraine’s accession to European institutions, including NATO and the European Union. Its main demand today is for the West to guarantee that Ukraine would not join Nato, a 30-nation defensive alliance.
Ukraine shares borders with both the EU and Russia, but being a former Soviet republic, it has strong social and cultural ties with Russia, with Russian being widely spoken.
Russia invaded Ukraine’s southern Crimean peninsula and backed separatists who captured significant swaths of eastern Ukraine after Ukrainians toppled their pro-Russian president in early 2014. Since then, the insurgents have been fighting the Ukrainian military in a struggle that has taken over 14,000 lives.
Russia is also frustrated that the 2015 Minsk peace agreement for eastern Ukraine has yet to be implemented.
In the separatist territories, no plans for independently monitored elections have been made. Russia refutes allegations that it is involved in the ongoing conflict.
Last year, President Putin gave a clue to his thoughts on Ukraine when he termed Russians and Ukrainians “one nation” in a lengthy piece. He has referred to the Soviet Union’s fall in December 1991 as the “disintegration of historical Russia” and believes that Ukraine’s present authorities are pursuing a “anti-Russian project.”
Is Russia waiting for the winter Olympics to end to attack Ukraine?
Russia is waiting for the winter Olympics to end as China is currently hosting them. The reason why we say is that Russia may see china as a supporting factor if a war breaks out. Even China wants to bring in a new world order because of the dominancy in the South China sea. This dominancy is being challenged by the USA at every moment in time.
It would be worth watching if a war breaks out between Russia and USA who will side with whom.
