The Government receives 1,631 complaints against judicial corruption in last five years
On Thursday, 30th June, 2022, the Law minister Kiren Rijiju revealed that the Government has received 1,631 complaints against judges regarding judicial corruption since 2017.
Although, all the following complaints have been reported to the Chief Justice of India (CJI) and the chief justices (CJs) of the respective high courts for action, Kiren added.
Kiren Rijiju is an Indian politician who is also the Law and Justice cabinet minister of India. Initially, he is from Arunachal Pradesh who represents Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and is currently serving as Law and justice minister since July 2021.
Recently, he brought this corruption which happens in judicial corruption. Kiren Rijiju said, ‘In the last five years, only in one case the department of justice (of the law ministry), with the approval of the President, conveyed sanction for prosecution under the Prevention of Corruption Act to the CBI against a retired high court judge in 2021.’
Moreover, the law minister mentioned, ‘About 1,631 complaints (from January 2017 to December 2021) in the Centralised Public Grievance Redress and Monitoring System (CPGRAMS) on the functioning of the judiciary, including the judicial corruption, have been received during the last five years and forwarded to the CJI and the CJs of high courts respectively as per the established in-house mechanism,’ in a written response to a question raised in the Lok Sabha on Thursday.
However, today the former CA Rajeev Gupta questioned the Indian Government that, ‘Why no action is being taken on these Corruption complaints against Judges ?’, while tagging Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
