Top new defence deals of India

India launched Aatmanirbar Bharat Abhiyan during Pandemic in April 2020.

However, during the Coronavirus lockdown all exports and imports were stopped.

But there was a self – effacing increase in the annual defence budget despite many problems.

Additionally, the Indian government strongly supported ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ with rapid growth in Budget for private industries, startups and academia.

The whole defence expenditure was recorded at Rs 5,25,166 crore which marks just 4.4% hike from previous year.

However, along with private investment of Rs 18,000 crores, the current India’s defence and aerospace manufacturing market is Rs 85,000 crores.

In 2021, the defence export value was Rs 5,711 crore.

However, the government aimed to increase its investment to Rs 1 Lakh crore in 2022 and 5 Lakhs crore by 2047.

During an ongoing conference in April 2021, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said, ‘It is our ‘whole of government’ approach to ensure availability of best weapons.’

‘Also equipment and clothing to our troops braving extreme weather and hostile forces to defend our territorial integrity’.

‘In 2021-2022 the Rs 40,000 crore worth of contract by the army is awarded to Indian Vendors’, he added.

However under Make in India scheme, the Defence Ministry has signed over 180 contracts with Indian industry between June 2014 and December 2019 worth around $25.8 billion.

The Indian defence ministry setted Rs 1.75 lakh crore turnover target in aerospace and defense goods and services by 2024 including exports of Rs 35,000 crore.
