Who is Dwight Howard who visited the banks of Ganga in Varanasi?
Dwight Howard has embarked on a voyage to India as part of PixStory, where he serves as the brand ambassador after the 2020 NBA Champions failed to qualify for the playoffs. The 36-year-old was also seen visiting the Taj Mahal in Varanasi, which is a famous site in India.
Prior to his draught pick in 2004, the basketball ace declared that he would use his influence as an NBA player to “promote the name of God within the league and throughout the world.”
On his social media account, Howard shared various bits of his journey. He was spotted, along with thousands of other pilgrims, doing the ceremonies. Howard set out on a trek on the Ganges in a boat with sandalwood on his forehead. He watched the holy event that takes place on the river’s banks.
Howard said that he was at peace with himself in an Instagram post summarising his soul-rejuvenating trip. He also singled out Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his contributions to the city’s transformation.
“At peace with myself and the world after a visit to Varanasi. A spiritual journey that has rejuvenated the soul. Congratulations @narendramodi for the magical reformation of the holy city. Varanasi has inspired so many legends, I am humbled. I am sure the reincarnation of this sacred city will inspire many more.”
