Who is Sanjay Popli IAS from Chandigarh whose son died of bullet wounds?

On Saturday, the 27-year-old son of IAS officer Sanjay Popli, who is now being held in a corruption case, died of bullet wounds, with police alleging he committed suicide and his family accusing the government of foul play. The assault occurred in the presence of a Punjab vigilance bureau team, which brought his father, IAS Sanjay Popli, to his residence on Saturday during a search.

The officer’s family claims that their son died in the presence of vigilance investigators who were torturing family members during the investigation. However, Kartik Popli, a law graduate, committed suicide on the first floor of the apartment, according to authorities. On Saturday, at about 1.30 p.m., the incident occurred.

The deceased’s family members also stated that corruption has not halted in Punjab and has reached new heights under the Aam Aadmi Party government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.

According to Sanjay Popli’s wife, Vigilance officials have harassed them and even tortured their domestic help in an attempt to persuade them to fabricate stories to support the allegation they have made.

“My 27-year-old son is no longer with us.” He was an excellent lawyer. “They kidnapped him,” stated Sanjay Popli’s bereaved wife.

The Punjab Vigilance Bureau detained Sanjay Popli, an IAS official, earlier this week in connection with a fraud case after he allegedly asked for money in exchange for authorising the bidding for the development of a sewage network in Nawanshahr. Sanjay Popli was arrested in a tendering case while serving as the chief executive officer of the Punjab Water Supply and Sewerage Board.

Gold and cash recovery

According to sources, the detained IAS official Sanjay Popli’s home was examined, and various gold and silver coins, cash, mobile phones, and other electronic devices were discovered.

Sanjay Kumar, a contractor, called the anti-corruption hotline and filed a report, which resulted in his detention. Kumar also released a video as proof that Sanjay Popli was demanding the second instalment for a bribe in the distribution of a tender for sewage work. Popli was the CEO of the Punjab Sewerage Board before being named Director of Pensions in May.
