A big win for LGBTQ+ community as President Biden Announces Karine Jean-Pierre as White House Press Secretary
Karine Jean-Pierre has been appointed to Assistant to the President and White House Press Secretary, according to President Biden. Jen Psaki, who will leave the White House on May 13, will be replaced by Karine as Press Secretary.
“I am pleased to announce that Karine Jean-Pierre will be the next White House Press Secretary,” said President Biden.
“Karine not only has the experience, talent, and integrity required for this challenging job, but she will also continue to set the standard for talking about the Biden-Harris Administration’s work on behalf of the American people.” Karine is someone Jill and I have known and respected for a long time, and she will be a powerful advocate for me and this Administration.
“Jen Psaki has set the bar for the White House Briefing Room’s return to decency, respect, and decorum. Thank you, Jen, for elevating the bar, and connecting honestly and truthfully with the American people while maintaining her sense of humour. I appreciate Jen’s contribution to the country and wish her the best in her future endeavours.”
Anita Dunn, a Senior Advisor and Assistant to the President, has returned to the White House. Dunn will help advance the President’s policy and communications objectives after rejoining the White House staff from her communications and political consulting firm, SKDK.
“She will be the first black woman, the first out LGBTQ+ person to serve in this role, which is amazing because representation matters and she will give a voice to so many.” Press Secretary Psaki introduces the new White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre.
