A man was detained for pretending to be the Chief Minister of Bihar on Twitter

According to police, a man was arrested on Thursday for running a bogus Twitter account for the Bihar Chief Minister’s Office (CMO).

In the account, the accused, identified as Arman Basher of East Champaran district, also used the official emblem of the Chief Minister’s Secretariat.

The Economic Offences Unit filed an FIR in February of this year after authorities learned of a phony Twitter handle being established in the name of the CMO’s office.

According to the EOU, the probe was launched using the latest technology, and the accused was finally arrested on Tuesday. Basher is a resident of Saphi Dhaka, in the East Champaran district of Dhaka, where he works.

Criminals were arrested by the EOU in the earlier stages of running a bogus website for Rajgir Zoo Safari and another group of people who were running fake websites in the name of providing helicopter service to Jammu’s Vaishno Devi shrine. The state police are concerned over the rise of cyberattacks.
