Dozens killed in the Kazakhstan protest

A nationwide emergency has been declared by the President after the country witnessed an unprecedented turmoil. The protests which first began as public demonstrations in the city of Zhanaozen
after the government removed price caps on liquefied natural gas, started to spread eastwards and
reached the largest city of Kazakhstan-Almaty.

The protest over energy prices has now broadened over issues like corruption, political stagnation and economic
unstabilities. The four day protest has now turned to a violent turmoil. On Wednesday, the protestors stormed the city hall and set the buildings on fire. There were cases of vandalism and loot in the city and a curfew has been imposed in various regions. Explosions occurred in the city square, where hundreds of protestors were gathered for protesting against the government for doubling fuel prices. Dozens of protestors have been reported dead in the incidence.

The unrest were tried to quell by tear gas and stun grenades by the security forces. The protestors captured the airports and all flights have been cancelled.
The Prime Minister and his Cabinet resigned after the turbulence .President Kasim Jamaat Takayev request helps from neighbours. Russia will send its peacekeeping forces to curb the situation.
