Former Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf is at a “difficult stage” from which he may not recover, reveals his family

Contrary to news reports, former Pakistan president Pervez Musharraf is ‘not on a ventilator,’ and is in a ‘difficult stage where recovery is not possible.’ Musharraf was hospitalized three days ago owing to a deterioration of his illness (Amyloidosis), according to a brief message issued on the former Pakistan Army chief’s official Twitter account.

“He is not on the ventilator. Has been hospitalized for the last 3 weeks due to a complication of his ailment (Amyloidosis). Going through a difficult stage where recovery is not possible and organs are malfunctioning. Pray for ease in his daily living,” the message from the family said.

After various media sources and social media posts speculated about Musharraf’s health, the clarification was issued. Many also speculated that the worst could have happened to the sick former Pakistan president. Ifzaal Siddique, the overseas head of the All Pakistan Muslim League (APML), warned people not to believe misleading rumors about Musharraf’s health earlier today.

“Dear All, General Pervez Musharraf is at home bit ill though but fully alert as usual, please don’t listen to fake news. Just pray for his good health, Ameen (sic),” he said in a tweet.

Musharraf was on ventilation at a hospital in the UAE, according to Fawad Chaudhry, a former Pakistan minister and close advisor to Musharraf. Earlier reports in Pakistani media suggested that Musharraf was struggling from an unnamed ‘heart and blood pressure issue.
