Goa Liberation Day 2021: President Ram Nath Kovind paid his respects on Twitter, PM Narendra Modi will attend Festivities in Goa

The historical day of Goa Liberation Day is celebrated on December 19 every year to mark the huge success of Indian forces against the Portuguese to liberate Goa from the clutches of Portuguese oppressive rule.

On the historical occasion, President Ram Nath Kovind paid homage to the brave martyrs and freedom fighters who worked hard and even sacrificed their lives to attain independence in Goa. The President also paid his respects and saluted the armed forces who showed “exemplary courage and valour” during the adverse circumstances.

Every year on December 19 is celebrated with much enthusiasm and joy with several programmes organised for the same. Today, President Kovind posted took to his Twitter handle to share some pictures of last year when he attended the beautiful event captioning, “On Goa Liberation Day, the nation pays homage to the martyrs and freedom fighters who fought to liberate Goa from colonial rule.” He added, “We also salute the exemplary courage & valour of our armed forces. I will forever cherish the memories of Goa@60 celebrations I attended last year.”

This year, the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi will attend the festivities to mark the completion of six decades of Goa independence. PM Modi will reach Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium in Taleigao in Goa at 3 PM.

The Prime Minister will his respects to the brave soldiers of ‘Operation Vijay’ and will also inaugurate various development projects like the renovated Fort Aguada Jail Museum, New South Goa District Hospital, Super Speciality Block at Goa Medical College, Aviation Skill Development Center at Mopa Airport and the Gas-insulated Substation at Dabolim-Navelim, Margao.

PM Modi is working on various initiatives all over the country to improve the medical and educational infrastructure in India. He will also lead the inauguration of the India International University of Legal Education and Research of Bar Council of India Trust at Goa.
