Is America’s and British Special forces trying to evacuate Zelensky as Russia closes in

As the crisis in Ukraine escalates and Russian Spetsnaz special forces are said to be targeting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, US special forces and UK SAS commandos are preparing for a high-risk rescue. Troops from the United Kingdom, the United States, and Ukraine have gathered in a remote facility in Lithuania to lay the framework for the rescue mission. According to the Mirror, Zelensky has survived at least three murder attempts in the last week, all of which were prevented by double agents.

In reaction to the forces attempting to rescue him out of the nation, Ukraine’s leader turned down rescue offers from the US administration, saying, “I need ammunition, not a ride.” Along with Ukrainian forces, at least 70 UK elite soldiers and 150 US Navy Seals are training for a rescue mission. Zelensky recently spoke with Joe Biden, the US Vice President, about security, financial help, and the maintenance of sanctions against Russia.

Meanwhile, UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson is due to unveil a six-point proposal on Sunday, which he hopes will be approved by his international counterparts. Johnson told reporters in the UK that “it is not future historians but the people of Ukraine who will be our judge over how the world reacts to Mr. Putin’s hideous, barbarous assault”.

UK PM Boris Johnson on Putin

“Putin must fail and must be seen to fail in this act of aggression. It is not enough to express our support for the rules-based international order – we must defend it against a sustained attempt to rewrite the rules by military force.”

UK’s Defence Secretary Ben Wallace separately warned the Kremlin not to underestimate the UK and the West. In a statement to The Sunday Telegraph, Wallace said allies “must not be afraid of Putin” and added that the Russian leader has been “acting irrationally and inflicting horrors on Ukraine,” and that he must not try to ‘test’ the UK.

“The thing to say to Putin is don’t underestimate us, don’t test us,” he told the newspaper. “History is littered with authoritarian leaders underestimating the wider West and the United Kingdom. He clearly underestimated the international community,” Wallace warned. “If we stick together and refuse to be intimidated then I believe he [Putin] will fail.”
