Israel’s “Most Popular Man,” PM Modi – Israel’s Prime Minister

On the margins of the COP26 climate summit, Prime Minister Modi and his Israeli colleague met for the first time on Tuesday, reviewing bilateral ties.

During an impassioned chat with PM Modi on Tuesday, Israel Prime Minister Naftali Bennett referred to him as “Israel’s most popular man.” The two Prime Ministers were seen sharing a light moment in between their hectic schedules at the COP26 climate meeting in Glasgow in a video shared by the Israeli leader.
PM Modi busted out laughing when Mr. Bennett offered him to “come to attend my party.”

The two leaders met for the first time today on the margins of the COP26 climate meeting, where they discussed bilateral relations as well as strengthening collaboration in high-tech and innovative fields. Their first formal meeting took place after a brief encounter on Monday at the climate summit.

India and Israel have always had close connections, and the two countries have collaborated on counter-terrorism and defense matters.

During Prime Minister Modi’s historic visit to Israel in 2017, the two nations’ bilateral ties were elevated to a strategic partnership, making him the first Indian Prime Minister to visit Israel in 70 years.

“I’d like to express my gratitude. You’re the one who reignited the India-Israel friendship, which is a deep bond between two distinct civilizations – Indian civilization and Jewish civilization – and I know it comes from your heart “At the outset of the meeting, Mr. Bennett informed PM Modi.

Mr. Bennett, who took office as Prime Minister in June this year, committed to continuing the expanded cooperation between the two countries that began under his predecessor, Benjamin Netanyahu.

“Indeed! We will continue to work together to strengthen bilateral ties and make the world a better place “In a tweet, Prime Minister Modi stated.

The meeting between PM Modi and Mr. Bennett comes after Foreign Minister S Jaishankar issued an invitation to Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu to visit India on behalf of PM Modi during his visit to Israel last month.
