Jungles and Environment needs to be protected, climate change upon us: Aaditya Thackeray

Aaditya Thackeray comes from a well-distinguished family. The Shiv Sena party which was founded by his grandfather Balashaheb Thackeray of which he is a member has flourished with a lot of influence in Maharashtra, which is on the West coast of India and has Mumbai as its capital. Though members of his party have been challenged in the elections and have been even part of the state and central governments, there was no one in the Thackeray family who had ever fought an election until Aaditya stepped in three years ago.

Though Aaditya is in a partnership government he could have easily chosen any fancy ministries but rather he opted for the environmental portfolio. This 32-year-old minister has put the spotlight on by making first-of-its-kind policy changes, taking environment-friendly decisions like saving age-old trees, bringing an electric vehicle policy, and also managing a strike a chord with the environmentalists. Thackeray even received the Inspiring Regional Leadership Award for the state in December last year during COP 26 in Glasgow. On World Earth Day too Aaditya Thackeray had spoken on climate change being the most ungovernable political issue, there was a need to hear the activists and also not criminalize their work and much more. Also, the latest Tweet by ANI states, ‘Whatever anger they have against us should not be taken out on the city. Jungles & environment need to be protected, climate change upon us. We had proposed construction to be turned into a veterinary hospital for jungle: Shiv Sena leader Aaditya Thackeray.’
