Manik Saha is the new Chief Minister of Tripura, and here’s all you need to know about him
Biplab Kumar Deb is expected to become the BJP’s Tripura wing’s president.
On Saturday, BJP Tripura head Rajya Sabha MP Manik Saha was elected as Tripura’s new Chief Minister. This follows Biplab Kumar Deb’s resignation, which he submitted this afternoon.
Union Minister and BJP central observer Bhupender Yadav took to Twitter to say, “Congratulations to Shri @DrManikSaha2 ji, the new leader of the Tripura BJP Legislature Party. Under the supervision and leadership of revered Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji, I am confident that Tripura would attain new heights of development.”
#Tripura pic.twitter.com/b6qKAKPd5m

Saha was recently elected to the Rajya Sabha, making him the first BJP member of Parliament from the northeastern state.
Saha, a dentist by profession, left Congress in 2016 to join the saffron party. In 2020, he was elected as the party’s state president.
He is also the Tripura Cricket Association’s president.
Saha used to teach at Tripura Medical College in Hapania before entering mainstream politics.
In the November 2021 elections, he was credited with the party’s victory in all thirteen civic bodies.
Meanwhile, Biplab Kumar Deb is expected to become the BJP’s Tripura wing’s president.
Deb announced his resignation earlier in the day in order to enhance the party’s basis in Tripura.
“I need to work at the grassroot level in several sectors to improve the BJP’s foundation in the state.” “Rather than being in the position of CM to create a BJP government in the 2019 Assembly elections, I should serve as an ordinary Karyakarta (party worker),” he remarked.
“The party comes first.” I am a devoted BJP supporter. I hope I did honour to the tasks that were entrusted to me, whether it was as BJP state president or as Chief Minister of Tripura. I have worked for Tripura’s general growth as well as the state’s people’s tranquilly,” he added.
“The 2023 election is coming, and the party wants a responsible organiser to take charge of the affairs here. A government can only be formed if the organisation is strong. After the elections, someone will obviously become the chief minister,” he further said.
