Phone call between Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi and Prime Minister Of UK Boris Johnson
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi spoke by phone today with the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Boris Johnson.
The two presidents held an in-depth conversation about the situation in Ukraine. Prime Minister Modi repeated India’s long-standing call for an end to hostilities and a return to the road of discussion and diplomacy. He stressed India’s confidence in international law, as well as the territorial integrity and sovereignty of all states, as the foundation of the modern world order.
The two presidents also discussed bilateral problems and agreed to expand bilateral cooperation in sectors such as commerce, technology, investments, defence and security, and people-to-people connections.
Prime Minister Modi expressed satisfaction with the positive momentum in the ongoing bilateral Free Trade Agreement negotiations. He also praised the progress made in implementing the ‘India-UK Roadmap 2030,’ which was adopted during last year’s virtual summit between the two leaders.
The Prime Minister expressed his willingness to welcome PM Johnson to India as soon as possible, based on mutual convenience.
