Prime Minister Modi laid foundation stone for the inauguration of Jewar International Airport

The Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the inauguration of the Asia’s largest International Airport, Noida International Airport in Jewar, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Uttar Pradesh. The first phase of airport is spread over an area of 1300 hectares of land with the capacity to serve around 1.2 crore passengers in one year.

The flight operations of the airport will begin in 2024 before the next general elections of Lok Sabha. The government is looking forward to the assembly elections in UP next year as the airport is also part of the promises made by the BJP government. It will be the fourth largest airport in the world and the second International Airport in the national capital region after Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi.

The airport will be developed by the Yamuna international Airport Private Limited under the PPP model in close partnership with the government of UP and the central government. The airport will be connected by Yamuna Expressway as well as Noida Metro. The proposed 800-km-long high-speed rail line between Delhi and Varanasi is also expected to have a stop at the new airport.

Prime Minister laid foundation for the inauguration event. The UP Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath Union anf civil aviation minister Jyotiraditya Scindia along with others are present at the ceremony.

Yogi Adityanath took the stage and said, “Under PM Modi’s guidance, Uttar Pradesh is reaching new heights.” He also added, “I thank all 7,000 farmers who cooperated and made Jewar airport possible.” He also claimed that the airport will lead to rise in the employment opportunities and will prove to be a game-changer for the state.

Jyotiraditya Scindia said, “Uttar Pradesh that had only four airports so far now has nine and this will be the 10th one. In the coming years, a total of 17 airports will come up in the state. There will be five international airports in Uttar Pradesh in place of two.”

According to reports the COO of Noida International Airport, Kiran Jain said that the design of the airport will emphasis on the convenience of passengers and the processes at the airport will be digitally enabled.

The Prime Minister arrived for the Bhoomi Pujan of the airport and in his speech said, “In Uttar Pradesh, where previous governments maintained in deprivation and darkness, where they always showed false dreams; the same Uttar Pradesh is now leaving its mark not only nationally but also internationally.”
