Rajasthan’s Cabinet has been reshuffled, with all ministers submitting their resignations to Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot
The present state ministers have resigned, and a new Rajasthan Cabinet will take the oath of office on November 21, according to sources.
On November 20, all ministers in the Rajasthan administration handed in their resignations to Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot. Their departure allows for a reorganization of the State Council of Ministers.
The present state ministers have resigned, and a new Rajasthan Cabinet will take the oath of office on November 21, according to sources.
The major shift comes as Congress’s Gehlot-led administration nears the end of its three-year term.
The names of the new appointments to the Council of Ministers will be examined at a Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) meeting on November 21 in Jaipur.
Days after a strong showing in bypolls held in two Rajasthan assembly seats, the BJP has decided to realign the state Council of Ministers. The ruling Congress party kept Vallabhnagar and wrested Dhariawad from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) (BJP). The victory increased the number of seats held by Congress in the 200-member state legislature to 108.
The Rajasthan Cabinet currently contains 21 ministers, with room for another nine to be appointed. There are rumors that Gehlot may reshuffle his Cabinet to include loyalists of former deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot.
The pilot was fired as deputy CM by Gehlot in July of last year after launching a mutiny that drew the support of 18 MLAs. However, a month later, he met with former Congress President Rahul Gandhi and reached an agreement.
Despite the fact that Pilot was welcomed back by Gehlot, he was not reinstalled as deputy CM. Pilot’s job as state unit chief of the Congress was handed over to veteran party leader Govind Singh Dotasara before his revolt.
