Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene claims that last night, she was “swatted”

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene tweeted that she was “swatted” around 1 in the morning and expressed her gratitude towards the local law enforcement by quoting on Twitter “I can’t express enough gratitude to my local law enforcement here in Rome, Floyd County. More details to come,”

According to assistant chief of police Debbie Burnett, the police department received a call early on Wednesday reporting “a subject being shot many times” at a neighbouring residence. The responding police located Marjorie Taylor Greene’s house. She reassured the authorities that there was no problem, and it was later discovered that the call was a bogus one known as “swatting.”(Swatting is a harassment tactic in which callers alert law enforcement of an emergency in order to send them to the address of an innocent individual.) When the call was returned, the suspect—who was using a computer-generated voice—said they were “upset over Mrs Greene’s political perspective on transgender adolescent rights,” according to police. Debbie Burnett stated that the matter is still under investigation.
