Shiv Sena chief Eknath Shinde rebels, putting the Maharashtra government in serious trouble
Following a disagreement with Uddhav Thackeray over a coalition with the NCP and Congress, top Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde ignited the political crisis in Maharashtra.
On Wednesday, Uddhav Thackeray’s home was visited by NCP leader Shard Pawar and MP Supriya Sule. In a speech to the state, Uddhav stated that if there is a formal declaration from the rebel MLAs, he is prepared to resign and vacate the official mansion given to the chief minister. Uddhav declared: “I will deliver my resignation letter if they come before me and beg for it.” This statement was made amid the worsening political situation in Maharashtra brought on by Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde’s uprising. I am prepared to move all of my possessions out of Varsha Bungalow, the CM’s official residence, and into Matoshri if any MLA wants me to step down as CM. “A strike to the own is what hurts the most,” he declared.
Eknath Shinde has been named the leader of the Shiv Sena Legislature party in a resolution passed by the 34 Shiv Sena MLAs who are a part of the breakaway section. They stated in the resolution that “there is significant anger within the cadre of the party, specifically the Shiv Sena, for establishing the government with NCP and Indian National Congress who are fundamentally opposed to our party.”
After testing positive for Covid-19 earlier in the day, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray joined the Maharashtra Cabinet meeting’s conclusion through video conference. The political issue in the state was not brought up during the meeting; instead, the agendas for the Cabinet were discussed.
