Tamil Nadu Electricity Minister V. Senthil Balaji Twitter account hacked; crypto scam
On Sunday, an unknown gang hacked the official Twitter account of the Electricity Minister of Tamil Nadu, V. Senthil Balaji.
After the hack, the name of the Twitter account was changed to “Variorius”. It was hacked roughly around 2 am and three messages have been posted so far on the Twitter handle, among which two were related to cryptocurrencies.
According to the first message which was posted at 2:09 am, DMK has developed its own crypto wallet and sought the support of DMK supporters. In the next tweet posted at 2:16 am, it read that to help people who are fighting covid-19, we would like to collect $1 million.

In the third tweet which was posted at 2:20 am, it read that they had created the crypto wallet to donate the money to Help India.
But after the third tweet, there has been no update and many DMK supporters have tagged Tamil Nadu Police and Cybercrime to take action. The account is yet to be recovered.

Meanwhile, the Twitterati also pointed out that there is already an anonymous account named Variorius (Retired) existing which belongs to a right-winger and is followed by many TN politicians associated with right-wing ideologies such as AP Muruganandham, General Secretary of TN BJP, DT NEXT reports.
