Why #arrestranaayub is trending on twitter?; here is the reason
An FIR has been filed against alleged journalist Rana Ayyub for referring the students protesting with Saffron flags at Udupi College as terrorists. After a footage of Rana’s recent interview with BBC Journalist Yalda Hakim surfaced on social media, the decision was made.
Rana Ayyub may be clearly seen in an interview with the BBC referring to Hindu students protesting the Burqa as vigilantes and terrorists. “…Why has this group of young Hindu vigilantes – Hindu terrorists for that matter – who are hosting saffron flags at an educational facility in Karnataka suddenly?” she was heard shouting in an aggressive tone. “Why are male students unfurling a saffron flag in an educational institution, what does that mean?” she was observed asking.

Ashutosh J Dubey, a practising lawyer at the Bombay High Court, filed a FIR against Rana Ayyub on Wednesday afternoon after the inciting video went viral on social media. “The films are purposely spelling inciting and insulting words against the students who all wear Saffron flags,” read the online complaint filed with Greater Mumbai Police at Bandra. Dubey claims in the case that Ayyub’s hate speech falls under various IPC provisions.

After being suspected of financial fraud worth Rs 1.77 crore under the name of Covid-19 donations, the Washington Post columnist’s assets were recently attached by the ED. Rana, on the other hand, did not eat humble pie after being caught, but instead continued to rage about Hinduphobia, most recently in an interview with the BBC.
